Remember how in the mid nineties, there was a nail polish company that everyone was talking about? And how the nail polish came with a little matching ring? I had a gold glitter one, and another colour as well which I can’t remember, except that I was oh so proud I had something mentioned in Pavement.
Well, that was a company called Hard Candy, and now they’re winding down, which means that everything on their website is 75% off! I have a Sweet Spot Lip Gloss and it smells good enough to come recommended too. But the bad news? They don’t ship international. I bet some of you have a cunning way around this though, so please feel free to share your secrets.
Oh, Hard Candy! I had a shimmery dark purple nailpolish back in the ’90s. I like that they came along at the right time – when young women were spurning traditional girly beauty for the grunge style, but still wanted cool sparkly things.
One sneaky way to get things shipped if the company only delivers in the US is to sign up with a company like MyUS or MyUSaddress.com
For a fee you will get US address that mail/parcels can be sent to, then forwarded to you. I haven’t used these services before, so can’t recommend a particular company, or how economical it is. Of course, it would be cheaper if you shared with a friend/partner. Also lets you take advantage of those ultra cheap US magazine subscription deals — given the price US mags are here, it would probably be worth it!
