I might be all lady-like sometimes, but there’s one time when I most definitely am not – when I’m at Kiwi Pro Wrestling, as you can hear in my screaming if you watch this video of my former flatmate Lazarus Volt fighting. Going to the wrestling is an awesome experience, which is why I must urge all of you in Wellington to come along to the Halloween Howl II on October 31. We’ll be dressing up as zombies for the zombie walk later that night and you’re welcome to sit with us.
In honour of Halloween Howl II, and also because of the awesomeness of her name, and the brilliance of her performances in the ring, we asked Hollie, Queen of the Divas from Team Pretty the hard questions.
1. How did you get into wrestling in the first place?
I ran into Jonnie Juice one night at a VIP wrestling event. We clicked instantly – being so much better looking than everyone else in the room had alienated us from the rest of the party. We bonded over that, and decided to capitalise on our collective awesomeness, so he invited me to join Team Pretty and the greatest stable in New Zealand wrestling today was born.
2. Do you have any difficulties being a female wrestler in such a macho sport?
No, no, no…the boys know their place. In fact, I have no trouble with them what so ever. Although, that ghastly Charlie Roberts is a continual nuisance, the refs are completely incompetent, and don’t get me started on management…
3. How do you balance your in-ring persona and the real you or are they the same thing?
Why would I want to be anything other than Hollie Pretty “Queen of the Divas”? I’m incredible. so yes, they are the same thing. It takes a lot of time and effort to be this amazing – for normal people. I’m lucky enough to naturally be this fabulous.
4. What do you wear/do to make yourself feel good?
I have more bling than old Lizzy over in England. So I’m never short of a material confidence boost. I also love to watch my “Loser Leaves Town Match” where I sent Jess, the loser, packing from KPW. I was brilliant, and I looked good too.
5. How would you define pretty?
Jonnie and Hollie. Enough said.
Yay! I love Holly Pretty! I saw her wrestling a little while ago, when she was robbed of her title by some no-good rockabilly gal with no class at all! Hope Holly gives her a smackdown at the Halloween fight.(It’s just like Miss Elizabeth and Scary Sherry from old skool WWF days).
