In the continuing series of interviews with the amazing pretty women who inspire and beautify us, we talk to Sue Tyler, the woman behind Craft 2.0 , the awesomely rad Super Very and now a regular craft segment on Good Morning every Friday morning.
1. When and why did you start making jewellery?
I’ve been making jewellery since i could thread macaroni on a string as a little girl. Some of my techniques have become a bit more advanced, especially designing on a computer and then getting things cut using a laser but threading is still part of my repertoire.

2. How do you decide what fits into Craft 2.0?
There are so many different things that go into a decision but some of the most important things are creativity, fresh ideas, personality and a great application. As an example – so many people underestimate how important an application is, but if you can’t get yourself organised to take photos, and send them through, to describe your creations in a great way and to fill in every line on an application it’s an indication to me that a person might not put time and love into their stall and might not be passionate about crafting.

3. What are the constant best sellers in your jewellery?
Very much my line of laser cut creations, right now i don’t seem to be able to keep some ranges like my skulls or silhouette hearts in stock.
But my most loved creations are my unicorns, they just make me smile!

4. What do you wear/do to make yourself feel good?
Lately thanks to Miss Jo I’ve gotten into wearing dresses more often and also embracing colour, as opposed to wearing black all the time. I can honestly say up until November i hadn’t worn a dress in about 5 years and I just love wearing them.
Also i love love love to wear necklaces, at the moment I’m especially fond of long threads of beads which I attach fabric flowers to, it’s a bit of a vintage feel and always makes me smile.
I also am a great believer in nailpolish, even when you have short nails, nail polish is fun.
5. How would _you_ define pretty?
Pretty is about fun, it’s about being a lovely person inside and out. Pretty is also the opposite of fugly.
Because Miss Sue is so fantastic, she’s given us a superveryawesome necklace to give away, that looks almost exactly like this, except in a royal blue colour:
So, in order to win this, we want to hear about unicorns! Leave us a comment with a fact, a story, a link, a poem or anything else that comes to mind, and we’ll get Miss Sue to choose us a winner next Wednesday. Hurrah!

I know this is old, but Charlie the Unicorn just immediately springs to mind.
Taking my daily promenade up the Southern Walkway, I gaze adoringly over the city that has become my own. The wind, as much a part of the city as I, presses up against me from behind, embracing me like a lover. As she sweeps my hair forward and turns me to the side, my head begins to pulsate, as if my heart has engulfed my body, when I see what she wants me to see. I stand in awe, for what is standing before me, on the side of the hill of a Happy Valley, is glorious. White purer than new fallen snow, he is so majestic that even my lover stills in his presence. As I step forward, he lowers his head permitting me to reach out and touch his golden crown. It is but the barest of touches before he turns and runs into the pink sun setting over the Cook Strait, never saying a word. I bring those fingers to my lips and shed a single tear, for I know blessed was I to see The Unicorn.
I asked my 3 year old what we should write about unicorns and she said we should put that they need a horn and that horn and unicorn rhyme! So that is the low down on unicorns according to Florence.
FYI i friggin love that cameo….
My unicorn history is long and rainbow flavoured.
I’ve always had a thing about unicorns and when I saw the pegasus unicorn for sale on felt.co.nz i squeed and purchased. this followed a flurry of purchases and sue was kind enough to hook me up with a 2nd unicorn of a different colour which i love dearly and wear all the time.
NOW, my dear friend who is a band was playing a gig and i said i would do a crayon poster for them… what did he want? unicorn or panda? he said both. and the mighty pandacorn was born…

Pandacorn made some friends and…

joined the army… http://ratpony.com/starrynights.gif vrooooom
And thus the obsession with adding horns to things was born.

Such was this obsession that for secret santa my workmate got me a big stuffed unicorn toy which i named charlie after the grumpy unicorn from charlie the unicorn.
and sometimes at work i’ll be sitting there with charlie in my lap stroking his mane… and fiddling absentmindedly with the unicorn around my neck looking like a batshit insane crazy cat lady.
In Harry Potter, unicorn foals are pure gold, only turning silver at two years of age.
“…I can o’ersway him; for he loves to hear
That unicorns may be betrayed with trees,
And bears with glasses, elephants with holes,
Lions with toils and men with flatters”
- William Shakespeare; Julius Caesar
There are no words to describe this. Who are these people?!?!?

So many thoughts about unicorns. Aforementioned Harry Potter. My Little Pony-that-was-a-unicorn with a tail I used to plait.
But really, the unicorn from Nut and Bee is the last word in unicorns:

Who knew that that’s where rainbows come from!?
