So many thoughts about unicorns. Aforementioned Harry Potter. My Little Pony-that-was-a-unicorn with a tail I used to plait.

But really, the unicorn from Nut and Bee is the last word in unicorns:

Who knew that that's where rainbows come from!?

"...I can o'ersway him; for he loves to hear
That unicorns may be betrayed with trees,
And bears with glasses, elephants with holes,
Lions with toils and men with flatters"

In Harry Potter, unicorn foals are pure gold, only turning silver at two years of age.

FYI i friggin love that cameo....

My unicorn history is long and rainbow flavoured.

I've always had a thing about unicorns and when I saw the pegasus unicorn for sale on felt.co.nz i squeed and purchased. this followed a flurry of purchases and sue was kind enough to hook me up with a 2nd unicorn of a different colour which i love dearly and wear all the time.

NOW, my dear friend who is a band was playing a gig and i said i would do a crayon poster for them... what did he want? unicorn or panda? he said both. and the mighty pandacorn was born...

Pandacorn made some friends and...

http://ratpony.com/pandacornposter2.jpg

joined the army... http://ratpony.com/starrynights.gif vrooooom

And thus the obsession with adding horns to things was born.

http://ratpony.com/bop-wellingtonista.gif

Such was this obsession that for secret santa my workmate got me a big stuffed unicorn toy which i named charlie after the grumpy unicorn from charlie the unicorn.

and sometimes at work i'll be sitting there with charlie in my lap stroking his mane... and fiddling absentmindedly with the unicorn around my neck looking like a batshit insane crazy cat lady.

Taking my daily promenade up the Southern Walkway, I gaze adoringly over the city that has become my own. The wind, as much a part of the city as I, presses up against me from behind, embracing me like a lover. As she sweeps my hair forward and turns me to the side, my head begins to pulsate, as if my heart has engulfed my body, when I see what she wants me to see. I stand in awe, for what is standing before me, on the side of the hill of a Happy Valley, is glorious. White purer than new fallen snow, he is so majestic that even my lover stills in his presence. As I step forward, he lowers his head permitting me to reach out and touch his golden crown. It is but the barest of touches before he turns and runs into the pink sun setting over the Cook Strait, never saying a word. I bring those fingers to my lips and shed a single tear, for I know blessed was I to see The Unicorn.

I know this is old, but Charlie the Unicorn just immediately springs to mind.
