Heel stoppers

clear20heels I found out about this amazing product from a  dude in drag.  I can’t believe I hadn’t seen them till now.  They are called Heel Stoppers and they are little plastic things you stick to the bottom of your heels to stop you sinking into grass or marking wooden floors or getting stuck between decking. And you can get all sorts of fancy kinds. Apparently you can buy them from many shoes stores as well as many places online. Who’d a thunk?!

    I am torn about these.

I had a beautiful pair of bright pink Mi Piaci heels that I wore to two summer weddings, that are now pretty much ruined. One wedding was on glass, and another was on decking, so these would have saved my shoes.

But they are a tad, kind of nerdy looking, no?

Agreed – they are unquestionably not as glamorous as heels on their own. But on the night, flat shoes were just not going to cut it – and I didn’t want to ruin K’s wooden floor – so this was an awesome alternative.

I’d seen them used at a wedding on grass, and they were fairly inconspicuous until they were pointed out.

FYI, mine were $16 from Overland on Lambton Quay, Wellington.

I agree that Heel Stoppers look strange, however, I came across a much better product that is a must-have for outdoor events, especially weddings! It’s called IdealHeel and it protects the entire heel and makes walking over grass, cobblestone, street grates..etc much easier. I like IdealHeels because they are thin and discrete and they come in different colors so you can match the heels you are wearing. I bought these for my wedding and gave all of my bridemaids a pair in their gift bag. I heard that they are coming out with a new size and more colors this fall!
