Holy fricking WOW!

September 30th, 2009

As I already wrote about in advance, thanks to the lovely Barbara at the Wellington City Council, Kowhai, Robyn and I got to go to the Montana World of WearableArts Awards. It really did make me go wow, like, a lot. Obviously, it was more about the art than the wearable, but if I go through my experiences of the night in a loose semi-chronological order, I will pull out my notes about making some of it translate to real life, okay? Yes. It’s going to be a long post, so I’ll put it after a jump. » Read more: Holy fricking WOW!

This is a shoe…

September 25th, 2009

Mojito-shoe-by-Julian-HakesAnd perhaps the most fantastic shoe I’ve ever seen.

Here’s what Gizmodo says it is:

Designed by London architect Julian Hakes, the Mojito shoe is made of carbon fiber—to give it strength and spring—and laminated with rubber on the bottom and leather—from furniture manufacturers in High Wycombe, England—on top.

Zombie Disney Princesses

September 22nd, 2009

twistedprincess_snowwhiteAwesome. This set of images are by illustrator Jeffrey Thomas. This Snow White is my fave.

I found them at i09.com who say:

Wouldn’t it be fantastic if instead of Disney’s wussification of Marvel’s characters, the tables were turned and instead Marvel turned the Disney princesses into Skrull invaders and zombies like this?

I just got a brilliant idea for Halloween….

Pretty pictures

September 22nd, 2009

I got so annoyed with the way that our purple site wouldn’t let us control pictures properly that I’ve changed the theme, and now pictures do what I want them to do. To celebrate, here’s Joan Holloway at the Emmys. Oh hell yes.

What Would Joan Wear? Pretty much the greatest dress ever, thats what!

Time for another girlie party!

September 21st, 2009

We’re super excited that we’re going to be having another girlie party on October 17 and we would love you to come along. Bring clothes and accessories for a clothing swap, products you no longer want for the dud trades box, and maybe bring along something that you do love to share with the group – perhaps you’re an expert brow plucker, or you have amazing moisturiser or an impressive collection of red lipsticks? There will of course be cupcakes, but if you’d care to bring a plate and something to drink, that would be most welcome too. It’ll be at my house in Newtown again, and we can’t wait to see you again/meet you for the first time. Wahoo!
