I know this article is pretty old, but I came across it and just HAD to say something. I was born with absolutely straight platinum blonde hair, and whenever I tried to curl it, it just went back to straight after 30 sec. Over the years, my hair got a little darker (to a more dirty blonde), but that’s not what’s interesting. When in grade 7, all of a sudden, my bangs started to curl. Now, two years later, my hair is completely curly except for a little at the back. This is weird because my mom has straight blonde hair and my dad has curly black hair. Mix, I guess? Anyway, I used to hate it, but now I get so many compliments, and it’s great for any role in theatre. (I’M SO HAPPY I READ THIS I’M NOT THE ONLY ONE)

I´ve had long curly blonde hair all my life! but when i was little i hated it because all the girls in my class had straight or wavy hair, but now i love my hair beause its what makes me original and stand out! so far i´ve only met like 3 people with my kind of hair in all my life!

I used to hate my curly hair, but that was because I was little and didn’t really care to take care of it. So after chopping most of it off for a few years I’m growing it back out now. I love my super curly hair, though its so curly it takes forever to air dry lol. Id wear my hair down a lot more if I could just figure out how to keep it from frizzing out. I wash my hair before I go to bed so I don’t have to wake up mega early in the morning. If I leave it down while I sleep I become a puffball and if I put it in a ponytail I get that retarded crimp where the ponytail was.. lol guess I still haven’t quite mastered my hair yet.

I on the otherhand was born with curly blond hair, then it went dark brown and I lost the curls. Then about 4-5 years ago my hair went ‘very’ curly (all I can work out was it was due to either general anesthetic and/or stress of having my wisdom teeth out) I love my curls and wouldn’t have it any other way… even when my sisters threaten to straighten my hair… so I wonder what the chances are with this happening to someone?

I am liking my curls more and more, and these days I wouldn’t want to permanently have straight hair, like I used to. I just have to find a good hairdresser for curly hair (Megan I know you have a good one, maybe you could do a guest post about your inspiring curls?)

What do you mean that curly hair is Not desirable? Straight hair is sooooo boring. Girls with curly hair are just so hot by comparison.

Straight, black/brown hair is about the most boring and common hair in the world. ie all of china, all of japan, most of europe and south america. Curly hair, just like blue eyes or blond hair, may be in a minority, but just like curly hair, it’s a totally desirable commodity / gene inheritance by most of the opposite sex.

Don’t sweat it – but if you’ve got curly hair, Flaunt it !

Re the numbers: The way I read it, in GENERAL, you have a 15% chance of having curly hair. If one of your parents has curly hair though, you have a 90% chance of “inheriting” their curly hair.

My hair is straight on top, but curly underneath. So mostly, just plain annoying.
