It's Birthday Giveaway Time!
Remember when I said I was collecting up some nice things for a birthday giveaway? Well, I’m now officially another year older so here it is: The Great Birthday Giveaway 2012.
I am not exaggerating when I say that this afternoon I looked at the g
oodies, and thought about stealing them all and running away (although technically I don’t think it’s stealing if you have actually bought the things yourself?). Instead I was strong and took a little picture and packed them away in their fun stripey bag.
Without further ado, here’s the swag:
In no particular order, it includes:
- Sally Hansen nail polish strips in Raise A Glass
- e.l.f. studio blush in Tickled Pink
- a packet of Rainbow Nerds
- O.P.I. Avojuice handcream in Mango
- lovely pink berry scented candle
- Maybelline Shine Sensational lipgloss in Freshly Sliced
- 12 silicon cupcake baking cups (I
have these exact ones)
- Australis Lash Length Extensions Mascara
- Natio Advanced Lifting and Firming Serum
- “Make Cleansing Pad” which is essentially a little face exfoliator/massager
That, my friends, is over $100 worth of prize goodness. I like to think there’s a little bit of something for everyone in that prize too. I’ve chosen these things because they are things I have used or currently own, and like. Particular faves are the handcream, the silicon baking cups, and the cleansing pad.
Of course, there have to be Rules. The rules here are simple: leave a comment below with a suggestion for a product we could review, or a place we could visit, or something else we could write about here at PPP that would float your boat, and you get an entry.
The contest is open to everyone (including any international chums). You can enter multiple times (as long as you make different suggestions each time). I will be quality-controlling for stupid or redundant suggestions e.g. “you should go to the moon and eat a cupcake LOLZ!!!1!!!!11!!” will not be counted. Although I would love to go to the moon and eat some red
velvet deliciousness, I cannot.
The contest will close on 31 May 2012 at which time I will use a random number generator courtesy of the internet to choose a winner. All outcomes are final and we won’t enter into correspondence blah blah etc.
Yay! Get suggesting below!

What I *really* want is for you guys to investigate why Loreal is giving away shampoo &conditioner “Nutri-gloss” in goody bags as I got at the beginning of the French Film festival, but I can’t find it at supermarkets ANYWHERE.
Are they too popular and sell out? Do New World not like that one? Why do they have the rest of the L’Oreal Elive Shampoo range and not the Nutri-gloss one? Do people not want to admit to having “dull, lifeless” hair? Because I don’t care about that, I care that it made my hair soft and loverly.
Someone PLEASE find out. It’s making me sad
i’d really, really, really love to see some skin care reviews. Affordable skincare would be een better!
Can you please post some photos and comments each season on your outfits Megan. I would love some inspiration at the start of the season. I know you always wear gorgeous outfits and since im in Auckland not Wellington I dont get to see them and be inspired.

lovely giveaway I would be interested in more eyeshadow reviews (with swatches and looks!). thenks, Radmila, rada76@mail.ru
How about more reviews of NZ or Au specific products, such as Natio. There isn’t enough of them out there, and those brands can be a lot cheaper than those imported from the US
I would also love to see more seasonally specific stuff, like changing your skin care as we come into winter…
I would love to see some reviews on some really cheap stuff – like $2 shop skincare gadgets, cheap makeup brands or supermarket shampoos. I know it sounds a bit silly but I can’t afford to spend even hundreds of $$ on makeup and skin and hair care, but it’s hard to get good advice on the really cheap stuff.
That’s huge awesomeness!
I would like to see reviews about skin care products like Garnier, Avon, Clean&clear..etc.
Knowing to use them or leave them by your experiences- of course thes are depend on your skin type
Hair straightener trials. Best overall, best for money that kinda thing!
Yay! Awesome giveaway.
The thing I need to know about most right now is concealer for spots. I’m still getting huge flare ups even though I’m in my mid 20s. Maybe it’s my medication, maybe my skin is just a dick.
I’d like to know a good concealer for very light skin that isn’t drying and can be worn without having to wear foundation as well.
I would like you to review the Rexona Clinical Protection deodorant. It seems to be quite expensive ($21+) but I would be interested to know if it lasts for two days as it claims and if it really does stop wetness.
I would love to see some reviews on any anti wrinkle creams
An expose about whats REALLY in your makeup/nailpolish/skincare etc!
Fran, I’ve heard a bit of good feedback on that Rexona stuff, haven’t used it myself but personally know a few people who have tried it – its worth trying if you don’t find other ones effective.
Sam, your suggestion reminded me – how about a trial of fake GHD straightners, like a Target test or something? See if they work as well as they are meant to.
Also, your blog is awesome and I’ve been a fan for a long time, so just keep on being awesome <3
I’d definitely love something about the best and cheapest hair care stuff, particularly anti-frizz. I’m on a never ending quest to find cheap hair product.s
I’d like a tutorial on how everyone is doing their fancy nails with coloured tips, spots and so on.
I’d like to see a review of cheap as, organic skin care the likes of skinfood versus the other brands of similar ilk. You see them at the healthfood stores and as a busy mama I don’t get to town to wander and peruse as I used to.
Ooooh! Fun! A giveaway!
I’d love to see a review of vintage makeup lines like Besame.
Hey Megan
I’d like to hear reviews from different massage places. You see the vouchers but some of the places you go you can see why they are looking for customers!
When you decide to treat yourself you actually want a treat not a grimace
Hey Jo, we’ve actually reviewed Skinfood quite a lot – http://prettyprettypretty.com/?s=skinfood
What to do about blusher… I’ve bought a cream one and have taken to dipping my fingers in to apply… am not sure whether I’m applying too much, and if it’s even in on the right part of my cheek to give me the proper highlights… and even perhaps if I should avoid mousse blusher altogether because it doesn’t really seem to blend. Do I look like someone who is embarrassed or slightly, er, tanned all of the time? Any suggestions welcome!
Or what, if anything, can be done about smoothing ridiculous fluffy ends of hair that doesn’t involve moroccon oil, which only seems to weigh my hair down and make me look like an oily seal.
Ok I love scented candles especially the Ecoya ones…but as they are sooo expensive I never buy them and when I’m lucky enough to be given one I always want to “save it” for that occassion which never arrives (i.e. forever). However, I am yet to find any scented candles which are cheaper but still smell beautiful and not too overwhelming that you wouldn’t want to have them burning while you had people over for a meal. So I’d love to see a review on various brands of scented candles and your opinion on different fragrances for different uses.
I am a stay at home mum and am continuously washing my hands to the extent that my hands are starting to become incredibly dry . I know the solution would be to apply hand cream after washing, but this is not practical. I’d be keen for you to review hand soaps to determine which is the most moisturising while still cleaning your hands. Also if there is a deep moisturising product you could put on your hands say before bed to help repair some of that damage during the day!?!
I’d love to see you guys visit some cool Welly shops. I’m not a Wellington person but when I can I’d rather not just go up Lampton Quay, I want to know where I really should be shopping!
Also, I’d love to hear your opinion on Retin-A creams.
Hi ladies! Awesome suggestions here that I look forward to actioning over the next few months. Keep ‘em coming!
Thank you for this great birthday giveaway!
I’d love to see a comparison of BB creams. I know you had a review not a while ago about a certain one, but i’d love to see a comparison.
THANKS~
Also, i’d love to see a recommendation on a good sunscreen for the face (with at least 30 spf)
What I would really, really love is….drum roll (!!)… is a guide to looking fantastic with very little makeup, or none! I seem to either end up with full on caked-on-mask-like makeup, or bare, kind of shiny skin…
Or maybe just something about making skin lovely enough to skip makeup all together! And lip care for winter! I get horribly dry, cracked lips and I always wonder if other people just secretly do something that I dont..
I’d like to second Martha’s suggestion about nail tutorials, and add a request for a review of the magnetic nail polish that I spied at the chemist in Queensgate last week.
I want this prize! Another idea a breakdown for different foundations – which ones are worth the money and which ones aren’t
Taking on the vintage theme would be fun to do a how to get made up 1950′s using yourself. Greg could take pictures of the final product and during

I would love you to do a PPP awards! Sort of like how instyle do but without the (well it seems at least) paid for winners. I would love to know what the best products/ skincare/ tools/ brushes are in your opinion as often with the overseas ones half the products are unavailable or super difficult to get!
Loving all the comments! I’d like to see
1.) A site re-design that makes PPP look as flashy and amazing as the content
2.) Product reviews of NZ-made products
3.) Giveaways once a month where people have to RT something on Twitter or get friends to follow, so the readership grows [ex: if you friend comments and mentions you, you get a bonus entry]
4.) Hair tutorials — Leimomi can do amazing Victory Rolls, for one
5.) Streetstyle photos
6.) Weekly themed posts
7.) Shoutouts to other beauty websites (BerlinHairBaby has a great YouTube channel, for example)
Thanks for doing the contest, Megan!
We discussed doing reviews for lip balm that is also a lipstick and analysing how long it stayed on the kept your lips moisturised during winter. Be keen on that
Also (please don’t count this as an extra entry): I would love bios + pics of all the contributors to PPP!
