Your final reminder about our upcoming party

Durvillea Wines

Durvillea Wines

Amy and I are currently rubbing our hands together in glee with plans for Saturday. We thought it would be only fair to let you know that there will be delicious wine from Durvillea and also Kim from Cupcakes and Mace will be bringing along her awesome jewellery to admire and purchase if you want to. There’s lots of clothes and beauty products to swap, and I’m making up some sugar scrub for the foot spa, so it’s going to be a lovely lovely time. Don’t forget to clean out your closets and bring treats for us to share. We’ll see you there!

Chiara gets lucky

Chiara gets lucky

Just a reminder that we have another Pretty Pretty Pretty party coming up, at my house at 3pm on Saturday October 17 (add yourself to it on Facebook here).  We hope you’re cleaning out your closet in anticipation, because a big part of that party, as well as of course sharing and enjoying sugary & boozey treats and favourite products, is the clothing swap. Because there were so many girls last time, it got pretty chaotic, so here are a couple of guidelines to make things run a little smoother.

  • Clothes will be sorted in Small, Medium, Large and Plus piles. There will be girls in your size coming along. Check out photos from last time if you want more evidence of the range of PPP readers.
  • There will also be a Special Good pile, in which you can put any designer items or clothes you’re really attached to, that we can all go through together instead of having a big free-for-all on, because I know last time some girls got into the clothes before anyone else had a chance, and people didn’t see who ended up loving the things that they’d previously loved before. The first time we had a clothing swap we went through all the clothes together and it was really lovely. I’m thinking there may be too many people and too many clothes to do that for all items, but if something has been really precious to you, then you deserve to see where it ends up, yes? Yes.
  • All leftover clothes that aren’t claimed will be donated to charity.
  • Bring accessories and beauty products that you don’t want anymore as well, and we’ll find them a good home.

Any questions? Comments? Testimonials from people who’ve come before as to how much fun it is and what awesome stuff you’ll end up with? I’d also just like to state again that I have met some lovely awesome new friends through the PPP parties, and I think you will too!

Time for another girlie party!

September 21st, 2009

We’re super excited that we’re going to be having another girlie party on October 17 and we would love you to come along. Bring clothes and accessories for a clothing swap, products you no longer want for the dud trades box, and maybe bring along something that you do love to share with the group – perhaps you’re an expert brow plucker, or you have amazing moisturiser or an impressive collection of red lipsticks? There will of course be cupcakes, but if you’d care to bring a plate and something to drink, that would be most welcome too. It’ll be at my house in Newtown again, and we can’t wait to see you again/meet you for the first time. Wahoo!

It’s a different website’s anniversary and you’re invited

July 7th, 2009

This might not be considered strictly PPP business, but I know a lot of our readers like to dress up, and I know that I like to party with you guys, so I’d love it if you wanted to come along to help me celebrate TEN YEARS of my own personal site – www.hubris.co.nz. Here’s the invitation:

So much post-party love

April 19th, 2009

Hello my beautiful ladies
Thank you all so much for coming along tonight. I hope you enjoyed it, I hope you learnt something new, and i hope you picked up something fun to take away with you.

Just a quick thanks again to the people who helped make it happen – Fiasco Wines obviously lubed us up real good – they’re doing their Black Pearl Pinot Noir launch tomorrow – details here:  http://fiascowines.wordpress.com/2009/04/15/dont-forget/

And you can buy their wines here: http://fiascowines.wordpress.com/wine-orders/ We would love it if you did buy them and let them know why you did – they’re a new company, and I think that they did the right thing hooking up with such smart intelligent girl readers, and I hope they get rewarded for that.

Also thanks to www.lindenleaves.co.nz for their Herbalist  Face Care Packs that we had to give away, (and Lou Draper at Rockstar PR (http://prettyprettypretty.com/2009/04/01/pretty-pretty-people-lou-draper-from-rockstar-pr/) for making it happen, as well as Dr Rosy Fenwicke from Workout Zone (http://prettyprettypretty.com/2009/04/06/in-the-workout-zone/) for her generous prizes and sample giveways, and finally to Karyl (http://prettyprettypretty.com/2008/08/20/pretty-pretty-people-karyl-from-mary-kay/) (that I owe some money to and I’ll send you a cheque!) for the amazing Mary Kay Satin Hands kit that we all fell in love with (“my hands are soft like kittens” was a twitter comment), and also the amazing selection of samples we all got, and also to Eleanor who makes Dollop, who gave me and Amy secret presents we’ll no doubt blog about sometime.

The bathbombs in your bag are made with milk powder, citric acid and baking soda, and are either orange, lemon, cinnamon & vanilla or cinnamon, chocolate& vanilla flavoured. If you don’t have a bath, break it down in to chunks and soak your feet in it (use a roasting dish if need be).  The CDs are a s ampler of awesome women, and if you like them, buy their albums!

I had such an amazing night – last thanks go to Megan for her red lipstick coverage, all you fantastic girls who came along with clothes to swap (and mountains to donate to the Sallies), the fantastic amazing new people who were shy to come along but who I hoped really enjoyed it,  anyone who sang with me, and finally to my beautiful partner in crime Amy, who makes this website what it really is. <3

So much love xojo

Don’t forget about our first birthday party!

April 6th, 2009

cupcakes

There’s just under two weeks to go to our first birthday party, and man, we are so excited! As well as facials, footials, manicures and all kinds of other goodness, we’ll be drinking Fiasco Wines, having giveaways from Linden Leaves and doing a big clothing swap, so don’t forget to start sorting out your wardrobes for clothes and accessories you don’t want anymore, as well as any products you have that don’t work for you, and also please if you’re coming, either RSVP on our Facebook event page, or leave us a comment, so we’ll know how many gift bags to make…

What a beautiful fiasco!

March 24th, 2009

Fiasco LogoTo Amy and I, no pampering session is complete without a relaxing drink in hand. That’s why we’re really excited to announce that the lovely Fiasco Wines will be providing us with wine on the night of our First Birthday Party on April 18. Fiasco are a new wine label from Malborough, and we adore the way that they’re twittering and blogging about their experiences. We’ll be trying their Sauvignon Blanc, their Gewurztraminer and also getting a sneak peak of their new Black Pearl Pinot Noir so we can twitter-review it the next day. We’re really looking forward to seeing you at our party and having a drink with us, but we must insist that you DO NOT try rolling on barrels. Trust us on this one. It always ends badly.

Also, if you’re with a company and you’d like to help us out with making the event extra special with giveaways, products to try, or even with the drinking/catering side of things, we would love to work with you. Give me a call on 021 212 7920 or send me an email – jo (a) prettyprettypretty.com. Hurrah!

Mary Kay par-tay!

January 28th, 2009

I had a genuinely awesome time at the Mary Kay party at my place last night. Hope my other guests were as enthused. Karyl Anderson is the most expert make-up and skincare person you can talk to. I learned so much and picked up some great products that I got to thoroughly try and test before purchasing. Plus I got a free Satin Hands gift for being host!

I picked up so many tips from Karyl, and me and Jo gonna share them all over a number of posts.

Here’s the first few tips about buying foundation:

  • Test foundations by striping possible matches down your jaw-line. The best match is likely to be the one that ‘disappears’ into your skin when you squint at yourself.
  • Leave tester foundation on your skin for several minutes before deciding on the best colour. Everyone’s skin has its own acid-mantel (or something) that will affect the colour of foundation. So leave it a while to settle.

Thanks Karyl!!
