Announcing the winner of our Skinfood prize pack

August 12th, 2008

We love you all, our dear readers, and we wish we could give you all a prize. You know that, right? And while I wish that I could keep the prize for myself, I’m stoked to announce that the lovely Skinfood box of awesome is going to the lovely Martha, who attracted the most hits to us with this post. Martha has a husband and two sons, and a girl in the oven, so there are plenty of people she can share the bounty with.

Runner-up PPP Prizeboxes go to Maree who brought us traffic from Oh Baby (and proved the Three-Degrees of Wellington rule) and also Sas’s Magical Mystery Tour. Ladies, if you can get in touch with your addresses, we’ll get your prizes out to you as soon as possible. Wahoo!

Pretty Pretty Pretty’s Next Top Model

August 9th, 2008

I make no secret of the fact that despite being a feminist I enjoy watching soul-crushing, deeply unhealthy television, so naturally last week’s final episode of America’s Next Top Model (Cycle 9 ) was a banner occasion, which the delightful Kowhai came over to share with me. One of the challenges that the girls faced in this episode was shooting a video for Covergirl – specifically for Covergirl’s Wet Slicks Fruit Spritzers, and naturally, some of them really really sucked at reading their lines. Thanks to the magic of editing, their attempts were cut into a reasonable ad, but it made us wonder – exactly how hard can it possibly be to remember a tiny little speil and smile at the camera? Well, as it turns out, after a couple of glasses of wine, it’s actually bloody hard. The humiliating video after the jump.

Skinfood awesome prize pack – simplified

August 5th, 2008

Okay, so perhaps my last post was a little bit confusing. Here’s the deal. We have a box worth $85 of some of the best locally-made, naturally-ingrediented, most lovely products to give away. Specifically, there’s:

  • Shaving gel with soothing witch-hazel
  • SPF 15+ moisturiser
  • Cleans All Aloe & Manuka honey
  • Norishing moisturiser
  • Exfoliating scrub with Aloe and Sweet Almond
  • Light Moisturiser
  • Mud Masque with Natural Rotorua Mud
  • Body Butter

This stuff is AWESOME. So if you want it, all you have to do is leave us a comment saying that you do, and link to our site from somewhere. Whoever makes the link (or links, you can accumulate them) that brings in the most traffic wins the prize! And runners-up receive nice giftboxes as well. Wahoo!

Win the ultimate Skinfood prize pack

July 31st, 2008

Oh my stars we are so very very very excited about this. You know that we’ve been loving on Skinfood‘s body-butter since before we started this site, right? Well the lovely Stephanie from Skinfood has given us a set of every Skinfood product to give away! I think that deserves a few more exclamation marks. !!! That’s a $85 retail value, because their products are so reasonably priced. There’s bodybutter, moisturiser, scrub, a masque and more (and unfortunately, I left the box of goodies on my desk at work, I’ll update when I can), and part of the awesomeness of Skinfood is that it’s Unisexual, so both boys and girls can share the love. We kind of don’t want to give this away, but on the other hand, we do love to share the goodness around. So, how can you win the pack, or our runner-up prizes of giftboxes from the first PPP party? The rules are after the jump.

Pretty Pretty Pretty Three Month Party

June 24th, 2008

Amy and Jo are stoked to announce that in July, our beloved PrettyPrettyPretty.com will be three months old, and to celebrate, we’re throwing the most girlie of all parties to celebrate. Ladies, book in 4pm on Saturday July 12 to come to Newtown and participate in all the funness.

There’ll be signature cocktails, cupcakes and giveaways, new products to try, a great clothes and accessories swap, eating and drinking, makeovers, home spas, good times and maybe even a little Singstar to get the night going.

Want to come along? You should! So sign up to attend to stay up to date with the plans, clean out your wardrobe and cabinets so you can bring along any unwanted clothes, accessories and beauty products to trade. Please feel free to bring along any other lady friends you might have, and be aware that the menfolk are planning a Chap’s Night Out you can ship yours off to if he’s the type to get lonely.

On the day, we recommend you come in your PJs or similar comfortable attire, and bring along some products and makeup to share, a towel in case you need one, some extra booze, and a change of clothes in case you feel like heading in to town afterwards.

We are so looking forward to this!

Email amy(at)prettyprettypretty(dot)com for address or other details, and add yourself to the event on Facebook here.

What is fashion anyway?

April 14th, 2008

Hi, I’m Joanna. You might know me from all around the internet in places like Hubris and the Wellingtonista, and you might wonder why I feel the need to contribute to yet another site. Well, here’s the thing. I am a woman of contradictions. As I’ve just written on our About Page, I hate most fashion magazines. Yet I still really really like make-up, and clothes, and jewelery, and shiny things.

So for me, I’m hoping that Pretty Pretty Pretty will be a place to promote nice happy good things, things that make you feel good to wear, rather than a horrible magazine giving you complexes about things you can’t afford, or 4 inch heels that you would break your ankle in if you were ever to wear them (Full disclaimer: I have a pair of 4 inch heels. I wear them only if I am posing in front of the mirror by myself, and even then only for ten minutes at the most). I want to talk about how to get nice things that will make you smooth and soft and smell pretty and not pay the earth for them. I want to talk about where you can actually buy nice clothes for people who are over a size 16. I want to teach and to learn about how to wear eyeshadow to almost drag-queen levels and still totally rock the hell out of it. And so that’s what I’m going to do.
