It's Birthday Giveaway Time!
Remember when I said I was collecting up some nice things for a birthday giveaway? Well, I’m now officially another year older so here it is: The Great Birthday Giveaway 2012.
I am not exaggerating when I say that this afternoon I looked at the g
oodies, and thought about stealing them all and running away (although technically I don’t think it’s stealing if you have actually bought the things yourself?). Instead I was strong and took a little picture and packed them away in their fun stripey bag.
Without further ado, here’s the swag:
In no particular order, it includes:
- Sally Hansen nail polish strips in Raise A Glass
- e.l.f. studio blush in Tickled Pink
- a packet of Rainbow Nerds
- O.P.I. Avojuice handcream in Mango
- lovely pink berry scented candle
- Maybelline Shine Sensational lipgloss in Freshly Sliced
- 12 silicon cupcake baking cups (I
have these exact ones)
- Australis Lash Length Extensions Mascara
- Natio Advanced Lifting and Firming Serum
- “Make Cleansing Pad” which is essentially a little face exfoliator/massager
That, my friends, is over $100 worth of prize goodness. I like to think there’s a little bit of something for everyone in that prize too. I’ve chosen these things because they are things I have used or currently own, and like. Particular faves are the handcream, the silicon baking cups, and the cleansing pad.
Of course, there have to be Rules. The rules here are simple: leave a comment below with a suggestion for a product we could review, or a place we could visit, or something else we could write about here at PPP that would float your boat, and you get an entry.
The contest is open to everyone (including any international chums). You can enter multiple times (as long as you make different suggestions each time). I will be quality-controlling for stupid or redundant suggestions e.g. “you should go to the moon and eat a cupcake LOLZ!!!1!!!!11!!” will not be counted. Although I would love to go to the moon and eat some red
velvet deliciousness, I cannot.
The contest will close on 31 May 2012 at which time I will use a random number generator courtesy of the internet to choose a winner. All outcomes are final and we won’t enter into correspondence blah blah etc.
Yay! Get suggesting below!
Declutter Fast – How To Declutter Your Home!
Out here in the Hutt we like to bathe every month or so just like the big city folks. So I was pretty happy when Jo asked me if I would like to review one of the Linden Leaves gift sets just in time f Declutter Fast – How To Declutter Your Home! or my scheduled bath.
The set she gave me was the “In Love Again” fragrance which is a blend of neroli, vanilla, and sandalwood. Sort of. I was expecting something hippyish and essential oily, but it is really more of a perfume-y scent. It actually reminds me of a perfume my mother wore in the late 70s/early 80s which I have no idea of the name of, but which makes the fragrance very comforting to me.
The soap comes in a printed cardboard box and my easily pleased mind was happy to find that the print extends right into the box. So excited, in fact, that I had to take a photo:

It has a nice creamy lather and strong perfume, which doesn’t linger on the skin–a plus or minus depending on your preference. It’s a decent sized soap and if I’d thought about it before diving into the bath I would have cut it in to two pieces.
The body lotion has a light whipped texture making it a good choice for summer and the fragrance in this definitely hangs around. Does it moisturise? I have absolutely no idea. I have the kind of skin that stays resolutely normal no matter what I do to it. The lotion does sink in quickly without leaving any greasiness behind and given that the second ingredient–behind water–is almond oil, I’m assuming it’s doing something at least vaguely moisturising to my skin.
Linden Leaves have given us four of these gift sets to give away so if you’re a fan of being clean and smelling nice enter here.

I will draw the winner on 10th October.

Win a Herbatint prize!
THIS COMPETITION IS NOW CLOSED.
We’ve another prize to give away! This time you could win one of five fabulous Herbatint permanent hair colourants.
You might remember the glowing review I gave Herbatint a while back. Well, we managed to track down some Herbatint to give away to you.
All you have to do to enter is leave a comment on this post telling us your hair colour preference (we have dark chestnut, light golden blonde, dark blonde, and blonde to give away) AND a good/bad hair story.
As an example, here’s my real life hair-horror story (which is also part of the reason don’t like hardcore, chemically hair products). A few years ago, I had my hair chemically straightened with a product called Glatt. The product wasn’t applied quite right, and in the days that followed the treatment, my hair snapped off at the roots leave patches a bare scalp. Though the hairdresser (Cut Above on Lorne St, Auckland) gave me some free moisture treatments to remedy the effect, they never gave my money back for the treatment. Afterwards I spoke to many hairdressers about Glatt, and many had similar stories about it. It’s not a nice product.
So leave us your colour preference, and good/bad hair story. Five winners will be chosen randomly (but sorted by colour preference first as we only have one of each colour and we wouldn’t want to send you a prize you can’t use.)
Winners will be drawn Wednesday 15th October 2008.
