I did a little squeal of excitement tonight when the latest email from Gracie Lou dropped into my inbox because they are now stocking Z-Palettes.
Z-Palettes are empty customisable magnetic makeup p
alettes designed to be filled with your choice of makeup pans.
If you’ve ever bought refills of any makeup products you’ll know that if you don’t shell out the extra for the matching compact then finding ways to store them so they don’t get damaged can be tricky. I have several Z Palettes (which I had to order from America, hence my excitement at being able to get them in New Zealand now), and in fact I reviewed them a couple of years ago on my blog Pretty Clever so click through and read my post because I’m too lazy to type it all up again. Suffice to say this is a great product.
Z Palettes are priced at NZ$42.00 for the large and NZ$26.00 for the small, which is comparable to what I paid to order them from
America. Check them out at Gracie Lou.
The cosmetics website, Gracie Lou, caused quite a stir here at PPP when it started selling super pretty make-up like this at amazing prices. Turns out the mastermind behind Gracie Lou is a local lass with a love for pretty things. Here’s what I asked Debbie…
1. What made you open you shop?
I have always loved nice skincare and cosmetics and after finishing work to have my family, I dabbled in importing skincare and cosmetics for my own use and sold the remainder to friends. Numerous friends, family and my gorgeous husband made the suggestion to set up a business and extend my ‘hobby’. Gracie Lou was born…..Grace is my 2 year old daughters middle name and Louie is my 1 year old son’s name. Gracie Lou has been in business since May this year and my on-line shop is growing month on month.
2. How do you decide what to stock?
Initially I found suppliers that had my favourite products and stocked them first and foremost! My stock list has been (and will continue to) evolve as my customers make requests for certain brands and products. Price is also a consideration as my business is all about providing great skincare, cosmetics and fragrance at fabulous prices. It is important to me to have well known brands and I focus on key lines – ie: Clinique 3 Step System.`
3. What are your best sellers?
My best sellers are Trilogy skincare and Bare Escentuals foundations and kits. My fragrance specials are also proving very popular. I am delighted to have Trilogy skincare on board – it is a company set up by 2 Wellington sisters who I have had the pleasure to have worked with in the past. If you haven’t tried Trilogy yet, you really must!
4. What do you do or wear to make yourself feel good?
A good glass of wine is a very good start! I am a huge fan of napping in the sun or relaxing with a good trashy chick lit book. Other times, nice clothes, makeup and fragrance, good friends and good food and wine can be just the tonic. And always, the smile on my children’s face when I walk in the room, what can be better than that?
5. How would you define ‘pretty’?
Pretty to me conjures up numerous thoughts and meanings…..pretty can be floral, girly, flirty, fun and feminine…I immediately think of summer, sun, warmth, dresses, flowers, skincare, cosmetics and fragrance….that must be Gracie Lou…..pretty..pretty..pretty..
Remember a little while ago we told you about Gracielou.co.nz – a NZ online cosmetics store that sells great brands at great prices. Well, I just found out Gracie Lou sells on trademe.co.nz too. And sometimes it’s a little cheaper to buy their products on trademe. I just bought this great looking Smashbox interchangeable brush set for only $8.50! (=$3.50 postage). That’s friggin’ awesome. Thanks Gracie Lou
