There’s a new hair salon in town, and it’s rather special. Wildilocks is from Australia originally, but now they’ve opened up a branch at 225 Cuba Street (where Eyeball Kicks used to be – don’t worry, Eyeball Kicks is still around). As well as being a salon, Wildilocks also sells clothes, accessories and hair products. As you can see from the listings on their webstore, they’ve got a particular focus on the gothy-ravey-steam punky aesthetic, so if you’re after oversize goggles or Special FX hair dye, this is the place you want to go.

I’m particularly intrigued by their pricing structure – you pay per hour (billed in quarter hour increments), with stylists ranging from $55 to $85, depending on their expertise. Another awesome service they offer? Vintage hair dos! I was lucky enough to get to model for them as Dom and Charlotte were trained by Kat from Australia, and the Victory Rolls I got were seriously awesome. Photos are after the jump.

Luckily they fixed it for me.

The blue robes are great. My face in this pic? Not so much.

I could sit and have people play with my hair all day. This only took 80 minutes though.

I took my Victory Rolls out to Mighty Mighty to celebrate

How my hair looked at the end of the night. There were 50 pins in it.

I wish I could tell you exactly how it was all done, and that I had some proper photos of the back of my hair to show you because they were seriously amazing, but alas, those photos are on other people’s cameras. I’ll update once I find them though!

If you’re going somewhere special and need an amazing hairdo, or just even a regular cut, I definitely recommend Wildilocks. I’ll be going back, just as soon as funds allow it.

Here’s me standing on a chair posing in my living room. I am wearing a vintage dress gifted to me in Brisbane by a wonderful friend named Michelle Younghusband. I love it so much because I don’t own anything that fits me quite as well. It’s cotton, and lined with one underskirt for a bit of flamenco feeling. I’m wearing it with Amie McCarron’s Parisienne black beaded choker necklace, and my favourite pair of brown leather boots. These were a major splurge for me, but I have never regretted the purchase – they are flat for walking the hills of Wellington (and climbing the odd tree), made in Italy, and brought from a fancypants boot shop in New Farm, Brisbane (my old posh hood). Red velvet curtains complete with broken curtain rail, low lit lamps and half-full wine glass complete the look.
