Winners of the Durvillea Wine

December 14th, 2009

We loved all your fantastic outfits that you created inspired by seaweed, but of course, there can only be one winner. Or rather, in this case, four. Here’s Meg‘s verdict (and wow, we’re really glad that we didn’t have to choose!):

All the girls ranked their top three and then I assigned them points. The winner was Megan, and the three runners-up ere the first Katie (with the clam purse), Sue, and Nenuphars. We really liked the seaweedy hairstyle in Katie’s entry but the dress Megan picked was just perfect. I thought it was cute that Nenuphar’s included a bike – Jane has one not dissimilar – but hers is pink. We also liked that Sue and Nenupahrs include sensible but glamorous hats for the Marlborough summer.

Thank you all so much for your beautiful entries, and especial thanks to the very quaffable Durvillea Wines for supplying us with such lovely prizes to give away. We’re raising a glass in your direction, and will be making a special trip out to Thorndon New World so we can stock up and drink you all summer long!

Win some Durvillea Wine – just think seaweed

December 2nd, 2009

We recently profiled Meg and her family’s wine label Durvillea. It’s summer time and holiday season and no doubt you’re going to be going to parties or hosting them yourself sometime soon and we reckon that Durvillea is a wonderful wine to accompany those activities (or even to sit inside drinking by yourself when it’s raining. But maybe that’s just me). So, exciting news! Those lovely Durvillea ladies want you to win some to make holiday entertaining easier!

Because Durvillea is a seaweed, we thought it would be great if you came up with an outfit inspired by seaweed. You can assemble a fantasy one on Polyvore, dress yourself up and take a photo, or draw a picture – we don’t mind how you enter as long as you do it! You’ve got until December 12 to get your entry into our comments section. The best submission will be chosen by a panel of experts and will win a mixed half case of lovely Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Grigio. Two other entries will be drawn at random to win a consolation bottle.

To inspire you, here are the Polyvore sets that Amy and I put together. So get creating, because this wine is delicious and I’m tempted to keep it all to myself – but I won’t… » Read more: Win some Durvillea Wine – just think seaweed

Pretty pretty people: Meg from Durvillea Wines

December 2nd, 2009

Pretty Pretty Pretty is obviously a beauty blog, but it’s also a site on which we can write about the awesome women who inspire us, and our friends who are doing great work. One such family who exemplify all that we find fascinating are the ladies behind Durvillea Wines.

You might have met Meg at one of our Pretty Pretty Parties, and tried the Durvillea Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Grigio she so generously brought along for us. I decided it was time to have a chat to her to find out all about her family. Doing that involved drinking more of the sav, which is of course a difficult thing to do on a sunny afternoon with tasty snacks and good company, but for the sake of you dear reader, I suffered through that horror… » Read more: Pretty pretty people: Meg from Durvillea Wines

What a beautiful fiasco!

March 24th, 2009

Fiasco LogoTo Amy and I, no pampering session is complete without a relaxing drink in hand. That’s why we’re really excited to announce that the lovely Fiasco Wines will be providing us with wine on the night of our First Birthday Party on April 18. Fiasco are a new wine label from Malborough, and we adore the way that they’re twittering and blogging about their experiences. We’ll be trying their Sauvignon Blanc, their Gewurztraminer and also getting a sneak peak of their new Black Pearl Pinot Noir so we can twitter-review it the next day. We’re really looking forward to seeing you at our party and having a drink with us, but we must insist that you DO NOT try rolling on barrels. Trust us on this one. It always ends badly.
